Kannawidan Festival

   Ilocos Sur is a province that have many festivals to show. It is a happy province in Northern Luzon. One of the festivals that Ilocos Sur showcases is the Kannawidan Festival. It is celebrated every last week of January. Kannawidan is one way to represent the Ilocano cultures.

   On the opening day, there is usually a mass held at St.Paul Metropolitan Cathedral. It is the way of giving thank to the Almighty not only for bountiful blessings but also for the rich heritage of Vigan City, including the close family ties among the Ilocanos. This event showcases the deep-rooted religiosity of the townsfolk. The Kannawidan Festival have many activities that Ilocanos participated to show their skills and talents.

   All of these are evidence that Kannawidan Festival is already becoming a fast rising festival in the country as shown by the number of participants and tourist who flocked and become a part of the festival. Kannawidan indeed is an attraction because it showcases the culture of Ilocanos that made them distinct from other ethnic groups of the Philippines.
